Silence is golden

Look at the cover picture, read the quote. No. Seriously, look at the picture again and reread the quote…

How many times a day do you take to just sit in silence? Do you ever take time to observe your surroundings and be present? Your txt message can wait. They ain’t going anywhere. Going on my second week here in China; needless to say, the only people I can converse with effectively are the Americans on my team. Oh! Forgot about the Europeans I met the other day. They were such a G0d-sent! Seeing how I can’t communicate, I wonder how I will thrive here.

“How Beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” — Isaiah 52:7

As D1sc1ples we are called to bring the Good news. I mean that is a main part of your existence whether it is locally or abroad. To be a witness through your words AND your life. Especially your life. It could be the only example on that day someone may come in contact with the power of Jeesus. I love how John MacArthur puts it: “So what is a witness? Somebody who has seen and heard and felt the power of Jeesus” That’s it. You don’t have to be the guy on the pulpit or virgin Mary. You just have to be you. One who has seen, heard, and felt the power of Jeesus. How can I do this when I’m so messed up? What will they (the world) think of me?

“Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” —John 12:24-25

Deep huh?? I share this scripture from John, because in one day that scripture came up twice in different settings. Looks like the L0rd has a message. Let’s dive in… So if your like me you may be thinking, “Come on J. Speak plainly! Stop the metaphors.” The beauty of it is He does speak plainly and gives us a choice:

Option 1: You love your life away from God; you remain alone and die.

Option 2: Once you hate this life in the world and follow the Son, you will live a life you could never have imagined’ you will bear much fruit and have eternal life.

Ball’s in our court. I know your objection, “NAI, why do I have to hate this life? I mean that is such a morbid way of living.” I get it. I’m usually an optimistic person, so being told that I must hate “my life in this world” irks me. But look how He stated it. He says “hate his life in this world” not hate your life. The beauty of His words is it all comes down to a choice. Hate the life that has everything or somebody else at the center of your life. Even if you have making a name for yourself, hate that life. Our lives should be aimed to make our Savior known. Jeesus went to the cross for us, because that is the price for us to be restored to Our Heavenly Father. His suffering was an amazing act of love and grace for ALL of us, non-believer and believer. He bought us, so I would say that means He should have our obedience. He ain’t our genie or solely our get of hell card. SO MUCH MORE THEN THAT!! Our Father is so loving that He sent His son to die for us, but also allows us to choose. I’m telling you. A life pleasing to the flesh and set to the world standard is not a life worth living.

I’ll claim it now, I don’t have it all figured out. I’m only 22. But. the more I draw closer to G0d, He makes it clearer for me. His word, that big book that holds 66 books within, Yes, that one, tells you about the life we should be living and how to live it. Open it. Read it. Pr@y for clarity. All those other books on how to obtain wealth, the books written by other believers are great, but there’re not the words coming from whom should be the source of our lives. The 66 books are from the mouth of Our Father. I mean I read it. Then one verse and then another sticks out and speaks to your soul. The words on the page feel like they are spoken directly to you. That is the life Jeesus invites us into. A life of constant fellowship and blessings beyond our imagination.

What more could you ask for? As children obeying Our Father He will provide security and give us desires, but they will be His desires. Have you ever thought that the life you may desire could be detrimental to your soul? Ask G0d for direction in your life that leads you to be fruitful and honoring of the sacrifice His Son willingly died for you…Truly there is nothing in this life we can do to earn eternal life, but follow Him.

Most do not want to know the will of God in order to do it; they want to know it in order to consider it — Dr. William L.Pettingill
